Hi! My name is Magdalena Urbankova, I am an artist based in Morris County, New Jersey. A nature lover and passionate environmentalist, I’m always attracted to capturing the beautiful world around me. Skies, oceans, plants, and animals are my favorite things to paint. My work includes large-scale murals, paintings in a variety of media, illustrations, and educational toys and games.
I was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia (now Czech Republic), but I’ve lived in the lovely Garden State for the past twenty years. I constantly fall in love with New Jersey’s nature, quaint old barns, and small towns. I’ve been painting since childhood, and I began making murals a few years ago when my young son decided he wanted a pack of dolphins for his playroom. Since then, I’ve completed commissions for several families in New Jersey and New York.
I am currently president of the Art League of the Chathams. I’m also involved with Czech Parents NJ, where I dream up fun and colorful art workshops to teach youngsters Czech language, culture, and traditional stories. When I’m not painting, I enjoy reading biographies, watching historical dramas, and spending time in nature. I also love to watch my son learn about the world around him.
