November 2014 in Madison, NJ. With their lives seemingly focused on play, a pack of dolphins seemed like the perfect companions for a boy whose mantra is “come play with me”! In his basement playroom, the calmness of the world above contrasts with the teeming life swimming under the waves. I chose to make the sea very stylized and simplistic, keeping the focus on the dolphins and making them appear to jump off the wall as if they’re three-dimensional. Painted in all kinds of blue, turquoise, and white, the mural is somewhat monochromatic, but its wave adds movement and drama.
